BPA ban: Belgium follows France’s lead

30 Jan 2012 −

Belgium has provided further proof that the EU-wide ban on the chemical bisphenol A in baby bottles made of polycarbonate does not go far enough for some countries. After France announced plans to introduce a general ban on BPA in food packaging, neighbouring Belgium is now on track for a similar move. On January 12, the Belgian senate endorsed a bill which calls for the ban on bisphenol A in the production of packaging for food for under three-year-olds – this is to take effect as of January 1, 2013.
