The British market for beverage cans

In 2011, the British market for beverage cans was virtually unchanged over the previous year, posting slim gains of 0.53% to 9.449bn units. The upturn in the segment for soft and energy drinks continued, while beer and cider deliveries either fell or stagnated. According to BCME data, soft drink cans registered a 5.6% increase to 5.118bn units, while deliveries of empty beer cans dropped by 4.9% to 4.331bn units. According to the market research institute Nielsen, the large can formats sold via retailers posted the strongest growth in the area of non-alcoholic beverages (+28% compared to 2010).
