The German commodity plastics market

By the customary December standards business had not been bad, concluded many suppliers of standard commodity plastics when quizzed about their customers’ purchasing behaviour. Demand was strongest for PE grades, according to EUWID respondents. Since suppliers were aiming for higher prices in January, many converters were avidly building up their stock in advance, ie, mainly solvent SMEs. Individual producers already closed their order books at the beginning of December in a bid to limit the availability of LDPE and HDPE volumes.
