British cartonboard market still sluggish in April

Cartonboard was still in slow demand on the British market in April and often did not meet market players’ expectations.

Very few experts noticed a slight improvement compared with March, for instance, in the form of new invitations to tender.

Experts think that the food trade, the leading buyer of cartonboard in the UK, is to blame for this low activity level. The cost-of-living crisis is disproportionately affecting the food market in the UK.

The substitution of plastic packaging with cartonboard-based packaging is more sluggish than had been hoped, as well.
