A special cross-industry working group on black plastics has been set up in the UK.
The newly formed Black Plastic Packaging Recycling Forum has committed to find sustainable solutions for recycling all black plastic packaging bottles, pots, tubs and trays by the end of 2018, the British plastics recycling not-for-profit Recoup announced.
To achieve that end, the forum has drafted a roadmap and plans to pursue three parallel objectives: rolling out detectable pigments; developing business and technical solutions for sorting existing black plastic packaging; and assessing and implementing opportunities for the use of alternative colours.
