Manufacturers of steel drums operating in Germany told EUWID in mid-March that 2024 had started well.
After volumes had declined across the industry last year - in some cases significantly - demand had already picked up in some cases in January, but at the latest in February.
The upturn also continued in March, according to some respondents. One of the interviewees confirmed that orders were already more than 10% up on the previous year. Another reported that deliveries in January had already exceeded those of the entire second half of 2023. According to some market observers, the upturn was primarily linked to the slight recovery in the chemical industry.
