British paper and board market: Asia's solid demand boosts export prices for OCC

Very large quantities of recovered paper were being collected in the UK in January - a phenomenon typically seen around this time of year. The amount of recovered paper collected from private households was especially high, something that was linked to the growing popularity of online shopping, insiders added. However, most EUWID sources were already witnessing a slight downturn in

collection volumes in the second week of January.
On the export market, OCC is benefiting from exchange rate developments. The stronger US dollar is making the European market more lucrative for paper manufacturers in Asia. In this vein,
the price for exporting rose starting in the second week of January.
