The cartonboard business in France was still faring well in March, according to manufacturers. GD producers, in particular, are hardly complaining about a lack of orders on hand and a few of them have order intake much higher than forecast in the first three months. This state of affairs is being ascribed to both seasonal effects, notably in the food sector, and to board manufacturers landing orders from other sectors. GD producers stressed that business is balanced and less volatile in a time of relatively good demand. Relatively decent business is prompting GD board manufacturers to openly consider raising prices.
