Manufacturers of coreboard report a normal start to the new business year in Germany. Demand in the first weeks of the year is quieter than at the beginning of 2014 while delivery periods stand at around 2-3 weeks. The price hikes of last year’s fourth quarter (which varied depending on manufacturer and customer) remain in place in the new year. Board producers could make out no increase in price pressure in the first weeks of the year arising from the recent drop in recovered paper prices. Two to three per cent of the customers had reportedly tried to use this as an argument to lower prices but board producers saw no reason to respond.
