The extremely good demand for label paper seen in the first half of the year weakened during the third quarter. According to industry insiders, the seasonal fluctuations were more severe than usual this year. "The dip in demand really started to be felt from August onward”, said one EUWID respondent, who attributed the year-on-year decline in capacity utilisation chiefly to the "rainy month”. As a result, the markets for wet strength and alkali-resistant label paper in particular saw sharper drops.
