GD board suppliers, in particular, reacted very quickly to the pound’s loss in value against the US dollar and the euro shortly after the referendum.
Yet, many suppliers were urging their customers to buy large amounts of board quickly at the old terms in July or they would have to pay higher prices from August onwards or during the course of August. At the end of the day, this meant that mark-ups of £20-40 were implemented in July in a few instances.
The reaction from GC suppliers was a little more cautious. On the whole, GC prices only increased in individual cases or for extra amounts in July. However, some announcements are under discussion for August.
