The British recovered paper market: Low demand and high collection volumes lead to falling prices

British recovered paper collection volumes in mid-January were higher than most EUWID respondents had expected.

"Normally the figures are 20-30% higher than usual, but in some cases we are seeing an increase of 40%”, said one market insider.

At the same time, demand for common grades was lower than anticipated.

Market experts attribute this buyers’ lack of interest mainly to the fact that the total volume of import licenses issued to Chinese companies fell well short of expectations, and the saturation of the other markets.
