Demand for recycled corrugated case material was decent to good on the British market in August, experts report. At the same time, supply has become tighter.
Insiders report that a few foreign suppliers are shipping less to the UK because of the weak pound Sterling. However, this statement did not apply to German paper mills, which were instead demanding mark-ups to reflect the currency situation. British suppliers have now followed suit, as well.
Consequently, market experts on the suppliers’ side of the market, in particular, are confident that the hike will be invoiced in full from 1 September onwards. However, other experts tend to anticipate that prices will rise by £20/t with effect from 1 September, some time in September or from 1 October at the latest.
