To all appearances, the direction taken by brown kraftliner prices has been decided. Producers and buyers had been embroiled in a tug-of-war over the additional €20 mark-up sought by producers in September. At the end of the day, prices stayed at August’s level in September and October. Therefore, the price increase stayed at the €20 instituted in early summer. Market players reported that several deliveries had cost €20 more in France in September, but the producers in question had to withdraw these increases. This trend had partly been spurred by recycled grades not having become more expensive in October, insiders told EUWID.
