Strong demand and manufacturers’ plans to raise prices again are having an impact on the French cartonboard market.
Even though August had brought a little relief, as is typically the case, cartonboard remained sought-after, manufacturers said. Healthy demand is evident across almost all segments of the market, first and foremost for food packaging. Customers in the luxury goods business are also ordering more again. Some insiders are mentioning mediocre demand for pharmaceutical packaging at the moment.
Lead times and order backlogs are still exceptionally long. Manufacturers said that they were currently accepting GC orders for December and January. One producer claimed that its current order cushion was two-and-a-half times bigger than normal. Quite a few customers are concerned about sourcing enough cartonboard
