The German PET market: Situation hardly changed at the start of the year

In January, there was little change in the market for PET compared to December 2021.

Goods from the Asian market were being shipped to Europe, but the volumes delivered and the schedules did often not correspond to the agreements. According to industry sources, some shipments had been delayed by up to three months. European PET manufacturers could absorb the current demand, but continue to achieve significantly better prices in the US export business than within the European domestic market - despite the continuing high freight costs for the over-sea containers.
