Over the past weeks the plastic packaging industry continued to labour under material shortages for polyolefins coupled with the steep asking prices of plastic producers. During the first five months many suppliers of films and pouches kept their delivery volumes at last year’s level. According to EUWID research demand remained stable in Germany and its neighbouring countries, except for the Swiss market, which softened. Current order levels were satisfactory both in the food segment as well as other areas.
