The German recovered paper market: Increased arisings reducing pressure on the market

The German market for recovered paper in September was balanced for the most part, with prices often unchanged or slightly increased for the common grades. This was mainly attributed to the end of the summer holiday season and the resulting increase in recovered paper arisings coupled with the weak Far East business.

At the moment the market has no need to rely on the export market as a relief valve. Demand from German recycled paper mills, especially the packaging paper and board producers, continues to be very good. However, the increased arisings have taken some pressure out of the market.
