Cartonboard sellers in Poland, who are spoiled by growth, seem to be overstretched by the boom that they have experienced so far in 2021.
Demand for GC and GD grades has skyrocketed and supply is thus tight, suppliers said in July. All converters needed more material than they had arranged with their suppliers last year. However, many manufacturers told EUWID that they were having a hard time living up to their commitments in the first place. Most cartonboard mills were hopelessly overbooked, with lead times longer than ever before.
With demand strong throughout Europe, it was not unusual for suppliers to have made overnight announcements that they would send less cartonboard to their Polish customers than it had been previously agreed with the board mills.
