After a strong start to the year following on a very solid 2017, the demand trend for GD board in Poland is pointing clearly downwards.
This disappointed industry observers, who had expected the market to pick up in the weeks after Easter. Several folding carton producers reported that their packaging production was below planned levels.
Suppliers of virgin-fibre cartonboard were satisfied with demand in Poland in April and May. Although some sellers thought at one time that things were also slowing down here – occasionally the deceleration was already being noticed in March – in the end, major suppliers said that they had experienced sometimes significant growth in their business during May.
