Prices of recovered paper in Poland have remained largely stable in the last two months. The upward trend which set in for bulk grades a while ago in Western Europe has made a very marginal impact on the Polish market, if at all. Purchasers report that from the end of June, Polish merchants made efforts to increase prices of supermarket paper and board as well as mixed paper but in most cases failed in the face of opposition from the domestic paper industry. “There was a brief period of panic in the market because
the inventories of two German mills close to the border were allegedly empty. However, we did not let these rumours unsettle us”, one respondent told EUWID.
