FINAT: sharp decrease in demand for self-adhesive labels in Q4

In comments about its semi-annual market survey, FINAT, the European association representing the self-adhesive label industry, reported a sharp downswing in European consumption of self-adhesive labelstock in the fourth quarter of 2022 compared with the same quarter in 2021.

In the report, the association mentioned a 24 per cent drop in consumption of paper-based and film-based labelstock (reels) – the largest fall recorded in a single quarter by FINAT since it began quarterly surveys in 2003.

Demand had declined by 4.7 per cent in 2022 compared with 2021. FINAT described this year-end development as a "correction to the erratic behaviour displayed by the market in the three previous months.”
