German lightweight kraft paper market records rising prices and scarce supply of brown grades

At the end of November, the situation of the lightweight kraft paper (40 g) market in Germany was characterised by scarce supply, especially in the segment of brown grades.

Industry experts told EUWID that there was a shortfall in available quantity, and paper mills had too much work due to high demand. The supply situation was better in the market for white kraft paper. Although demand was high, as were machinery utilisation rates, customers still had access to sufficient volumes. Packaging producers also reported that incoming orders were sizeable. Demand for bags was high, not only from classic retailers, they said.
