The dramatic downward trend in the corrugated industry has by now also reached companies that had long been unaffected.
Comparatively robust demand from the food industry alone cannot make up for the slump in other segments in Germany, EUWID was told. An especially large number of companies is reported to be struggling with the rapid plunge in e-commerce business. It is not just that customers can buy more at brick-and-mortar shops again; they were also tightening their purse strings. The automotive sector was also ordering very little.
As a result companies are fighting "tooth and nail” for customers by offering attractive prices.
