The German market for lightweight brown and white machine-glazed (MG) kraft paper (40 g) did not present a uniform picture at the beginning of August.
All in all, the industry does seem to detect a sliver of hope for an end to the languishing demand of recent months. Paper producers, distributors and converters can all see a "noticeable uptake in order inflow from all areas despite the summer holidays.”
However, not all respondents can confirm the assessment. Operating loads on paper machines still leave much room for improvement, demand is low and idling measures to curtail production cannot be avoided in the coming weeks. Prices continue to drift lower.
