Corrugated board companies organised in Spanish industry association AFCO produced 4.95 billion m² of board last year, representing an increase of 4% over 2015. Spain was thus once again the fourth largest producer in Europe.
According to AFCO, a total of 2.95m t of corrugated case material was used in Spain last year to manufacture corrugated board.
Sales in the industry, which includes 71 companies with 89 factories across the country, amounted to €4.48bn. The Spanish corrugated industry has a total of 22,750 employees, compared with 100,000 across Europe.
