The British kraftliner market

The British kraftliner market was relatively tight in recent weeks, with European and American manufacturers alike seeking to raise their prices. European manufacturers feel that they have good cards in their hand with the insolvency of the Norwegian producer Peterson and a stoppage lasting close to four weeks at Smurfit Kappa’s Cellulose du Pin mill. However, kraftliner converters are sceptical about their suppliers’ ambitious plans, noting that kraftliner was a global product and the competition was strong. Cellulose du Pin had also resumed output on 24 August, putting an end to at least this bottleneck.
