The cartonboard business is turning out to be a little quieter than in January and February on average in April. However, order intake and backlogs can vary significantly depending on the board producer in question. Some GC manufacturers said that they were very busy in the first quarter, but figures for the French GC market as a whole indicate that business tended to be weaker than in the GD sector. Quite a few customers have become a little more cautious when ordering because they want to avoid building up inventories amidst upcoming changes to legislation governing board packaging.
