The supply situation on the GC II board market has eased somewhat, players found at the end of April. This had to do with the sanctions against Russia which also include paper deliveries, several respondents told EUWID.
In contrast, there has been no change to the tense situation on the market for recycled grades. Following the closure of Baden Board, the fire at a French GD board plant and a producer’s decision to reduce output at one GD board plant until summer, conditions on the market appear "really disastrous”, market insiders report. This is why the folding box industry is reportedly trying to switch, at least temporarily, to fresh-fibre grades for some applications that earlier used GD board. However, the efforts have reportedly not always met with success.
