There was no turnaround in sight in the market for standard commodity plastics in May, even if some EUWID respondents were hoping that the market would soon bottom out. In many areas, the market was still trudging along. There was no sign of an increase in demand, according to all industry experts. At the same time, the market continued to be adequately supplied with material across all standard plastics, despite the throttled production at monomer and polymer manufacturers. Polypropylene was the only sector with a positive development in May. Here, supply and demand were “largely balanced” and demand was stable albeit a low level....
