The mood in the market for standard commodity plastics remained subdued in mid-October and customers were very uncertain about developments in the coming months. After all, the plastics industry was also preparing for a hard winter and a potential recession. Manufacturers and distributors continued to say that only those who really needed the goods were placing orders. Nevertheless, some EUWID respondents were observing the first signs of a possible trend reversal on the demand side. For example, orders from the consumer goods industry seemed to be picking up in individual cases regarding the year-end business. As for prices, a further decline in quotations may have hit a wall....
