In April, all standard commodity plastics once again witnessed at least slight price hikes, ie, with the exception of polystyrene. This was in line with the development of upstream products (contract prices for April for ethylene + €10, propylene + €25, styrene - €88/t). While polyolefins and PVC followed the upward trend, PS yielded. Imports remain negligible. All forecasts are positive for May. The long month, which does not have any bank holidays, is fuelling merchants’ hopes for good demand and another slight lift of prices. EUWID respondents say it would be better for the market if prices did not increase so extremely anymore.
