The market for polyamide 6 for packaging applications was very turbulent in April.
One EUWID respondent described the increased raw material prices as well as prices for electricity, gas and transport as a "toxic cocktail" for the industry. Russia's invasion of Ukraine contributed to the difficult situation. The majority of companies were reportedly not directly affected by the war or the sanctions against Russia and Belarus, but indirectly the effects have had a strong impact. The Russian offensive has further destabilised the already tense energy markets. Energy-intensive plastic upstream products such as benzene, caprolactam or cyclohexane have become very expensive and thus also polyamide 6 for packaging applications.
