The German packaging paper market: kraftliner prices continue to fall

The weakness in brown kraftliner prices has long been noticed.

Many players refused to accept the fact in recent weeks and tried to keep prices stable as long as possible. But stable prices are usually short-lived, remarked market sources in the penultimate week of November. Now, some suppliers and buyers have reportedly "taken their gloves off”. Quite often, respondents say they get the impression that paper buyers bided their time over the phase of high prices, waiting for their chance "to turn the tables”.

Companies with contracts could bargain for discounts of €30/t in October followed widely by a similar step in November.
