Weaker demand in recent weeks as well as further declines in purchase prices for softwood lumber have also led to price corrections on the Central European markets for flat wooden pallets by the end of August.
In current contracts with large customers, generally speaking the €20 mark could no longer be maintained for either euro pallets or chemical pallets. Increased imports from the Eastern European EU region and also from Ukraine have also contributed to the fact that prices for standard pallets again came under somewhat greater pressure.
Pallet demand continues to be described by manufacturers as too low for the time of year as well as being subject to strong fluctuation.
