A slowdown that surfaced on the German envelope and shipping bag paper market back in the third quarter actually intensified in the final three months of 2022. Demand had continued to fall sharply, which was normally completely atypical for the fourth quarter. Experts attribute this turn of events to converters still having full warehouses. They were not busy, either, so they did not need any paper to be delivered. Additional price hikes originally sought for white woodfree envelope paper in the fourth quarter failed to materialise after energy prices continued to stabilise and raw material prices started to fall....
