Experts continue to complain that the improvement in order intake seen on the German market continues to be underwhelming. The expectations of many manufacturers of packaging papers for a real upturn in October were often not completely fulfilled. Kraftliner prices are nonetheless expected to remain unchanged compared to September despite some pressure from imported volumes. Producers of recycled containerboard are still taking downtime to keep stock levels in check. Although costs are high and recovered paper prices are rising, a price hike initiative appears to be unlikely because of the supply overhang. The board and folding box industry also hopes that the business situation will improve in the coming year. Demand is stagnant and low on both sides of the market. Persistently low collection volumes and attractive terms for exports to the Far East are shaping the German recovered paper market in October....
