The German tinplate packaging market

"Volumes are satisfactory, but not profitability,” is the most common assessment by tinplate packaging suppliers with regard to 2010. However, it is agreed across all segments that 2010 was a better year than 2009, despite the dampener of increased tinplate prices which were implemented in the packaging industry over the course of the year.

Since the beginning of the year all EUWID respondents manufacturing tinplate packaging are forced to pay 20-25% more for their upstream product (compared to the beginning of 2010). Taking this into account, the tinplate converting industry was off to a bumpy start in 2011.
