Only few board converters have had to pay higher prices for recycled board in Poland at the end of May. The first quarter saw announcements to hike GD board prices at the end of March, when recovered paper prices were being raised. The situation drastically changed in the second quarter with price cuts of €20/t on the raw material side of the market. Consequently, suppliers relatively quickly reduced their price hike demands from €40-50/t to €20-30/t while concurrently postponing the hike from April to May, respondents confirm.
