Speculation about impending downward price movement on the Polish market for recycled corrugated case material proved to be true in July. After prices began to crumble in June and fell by €5/t in some cases, EUWID respondents confirmed a further reduction of €10-15/t during July. They reported that Polish paper manufacturers were among the first in Europe to respond to the summer slack period by reducing prices. Given the weak demand for corrugated packaging as well as lower recovered paper costs, Polish buyers had increased their pressure.
