Decent supply and higher unbleached kraftliner imports from non-European countries put mounting pressure on producers in Poland during January. As a result, paper manufacturers had to cancel a portion of price increases that had only taken full effect in November during the first month of 2011.
Converters occasionally told EUWID that they had secured similar special discounts for unbleached kraftliner back in December that were still being granted in the New Year.
In conversations with EUWID, sources noted that price reductions had been smaller than in Western European countries. The diverging trends were explained with prices in Poland previously having been much lower than in other countries.
