Tight market for glass bottles is the result of war, too much individuality and lack of pool thinking

Glass bottles are in short supply and becoming more and more expensive, according to various media reports.

EUWID surveys of glassworks and fillers show that this is also true depending on the sector, but does not affect the entire industry. The market for glass packaging is currently showing an enormously high degree of variety in its development, which is influenced by numerous and above all different factors.

Basically, prices for glass packaging are currently increasing. The increases reportedly made a first step at the turn of the year, and another at the beginning of the second quarter. In both adjustments, energy costs played a decisive role and the industry is seeing cumulative increases of 25-35%, partly linked to an index but also passed on across the board.
