Packaging steel: definitive anti-dumping duties imposed on ECCS from China and Brazil

On 16 November, the European Commission imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of Electrolytic Chromium Coated Steel (ECCS) from China and Brazil by means of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/2247.

According to the Commission, an investigation had shown that Chinese and Brazilian imports were dumped on the EU market and were harming the EU industry. As a result, the Commission imposed duties ranging from €239-€607/t on imported ECCS.

Electrolytic chromium coated steel is used for a variety of purposes and, according to the Commission, is most commonly used in food packaging, for example, for can ends and bodies and for closures.
