Spain has approved a new tax on single-use plastic packaging.
Published in Spain’s Official State Gazette on 9 April, Law 07/2022 on waste and contaminated soil imposes a wide-ranging tax on “single-use plastic packaging”. It applies to products including single-use plastic containers, semi-finished plastic products used to make single-use plastic containers such as preforms and thermoplastic sheets, and plastic products meant to facilitate the closing, trading or presentation of single-use containers.
