Austrian corrugated board industry reports receding sales despite higher deliveries in 2020

26 Apr 2021 −

Austria’s corrugated board industry remained "stable and robust” last year through the Covid-19 pandemic, reports industry association Forum Wellpappe Austria.

Member companies of Forum Wellpappe Austria delivered slightly over 1.04 bn m² of corrugated board in 2020, an increase of 1.5 per cent year-on-year. The industry attributes the growth mainly to a strong first and second quarter 2020.

Sales for the reporting year, however, receded by 3.6 per cent to €553m. The drop is mainly attributed to two reasons: business shifts between product groups due to the coronavirus pandemic and short-term volatility on raw material markets.
