The French cartonboard market:
Demand remains muted in some segments

09 Oct 2020 −

There is still a split picture on the market for cartonboard in France

While the food industry has relatively good demand, demand for industrial packaging is still below the level recorded prior to the pandemic outbreak. Things have been slowly starting to return to normal here in recent weeks, but the year-on-year drops in this segment are still considerable, say market insiders. Even the typical economic upswing following the summer holidays had not really provided any significant impetus. This development is also noticeable in the order intake of cartonboard producers. Demand for GD has not suffered as much in recent months as has interest in GC, say market players.

This is an excerpt from EUWID's monthly report on the French paper and board market. The EUWID Price Watch for September together with the complete report were published in EUWID Packaging Markets 21/2020.
