The French paper and board market:
Cartonboard manufacturers hoping to raise their prices

27 May 2021 −

After the first round of hikes for GD cartonboard in spring, cartonboard producers are also seeking to raise prices for both GD and GC board in June or July.

Demand for cartonboard in France is good. The rapid growth in prices for recycled paper grades for packaging was nibbling away at their margins, manufacturers said, adding that a few other production items had soared in price, too.

Order intake and delivery times for GD board are vaulting to heights not seen in a long time. Deliveries had been at normal good levels in April, but the amount of incoming orders was very high, producers confirmed.

This is an excerpt from EUWID's monthly report on the French paper and board market. The EUWID Price Watch for May together with the complete report will be published in EUWID Packaging Markets 11/2021.
