The German commodity plastics market:
Converters holding back their orders

02 Nov 2017 −

Demand for standard commodity plastics was only moderate in October.

Many converters were still well-stocked and were holding back on placing orders because they were hoping to pay less in November.

PE grades witnessed hikes in proportion to the mark-ups registered for ethylene; PP followed the lead of propylene.

The PS price tracked that of the upstream product, yielding, but it lost less than it had gained in September.

The price of PVC trended slightly higher, reflecting no more than half the mark-up registered for ethylene.
