The German commodity plastics market:
Demand with seasonal dip in July

03 Aug 2020 −

Demand for all standard commodity plastics with the exception of polyethylene slackened noticeably in July as a result of the summer holidays.

Many converters were seeing their own orders drop and with prices higher and their inventories well-filled, they were less inclined to buy. This was compounded by company holidays and increased applications for short-time working as a result of the coronavirus crisis. Availability was sound for nearly all polymers. The main topic of discussion in the market was how the economy would develop in the face of the insolvencies and cash flow problems customers were expected to face.
