The German commodity plastics market:
Order figures fall short of expectations in October

09 Nov 2020 −

Normally, the market for standard plastics should be subject to seasonality, with October and the last quarter of the year already displaying lower operating rates and order volumes.

However, most EUWID respondents had expected stronger demand impulses for October. This was due to the persistently low granulate prices and the significant increase in the number of coronavirus infections. Demand effects were expected, as was the case during the peak of the pandemic. However, the predicted momentum failed to materialise. "The number of incoming orders increased across most grades, but not the quantities," said one supplier.
